We are delighted to welcome Dr Huseyn Aliyev who joins the School as LKAS Research Fellow in the Central and Eastern European Studies subject area. His research interests include civil wars, non-state armed groups, informal politics, and institutions in the former Soviet Union and beyond.

Huseyn has arrived from the Research Centre for East European Studies (Forschungsstelle Osteuropa) at the University of Bremen where he was Alexander von Humboldt post-doctoral fellow. In 2015-16, he also worked as Lecturer of Conflict and Area Studies at the Department of Political Science at Bremen University. More recently, Huseyn was visiting research fellow at the School of Interdisciplinary Area Studies at Oxford University, and a post-doctoral fellow at the Centre for Security Studies of Metropolitan University Prague. He gained his PhD in Political Science from the University of Otago in New Zealand.
