Petra Vaiglova: Farming and feasting in Neolithic Greece: insight from multi-isotopic analyses at Makriyalos and Kouphovouno

In this talk, Petra Vaiglova will present her research on reconstructing ancient agricultural management strategies using multiple isotopic proxies (carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, strontium). Two case studies from Neolithic Greece (Makriyalos in the north and Kouphovouno in the south) will illuminate how farmers at the two sites adapted crop cultivation and animal herding strategies to distinct subsistence or social demands, including large-scale feasting activities and variable interest in dairy consumption.
