GOHISS team

November marks Mouth Cancer Action Month, and GOHISS wanted to run an event to raise awareness of this important, although often overlooked, disease.

On the afternoon of Wednesday 23rd November, we took to Buchanan Street armed with a pile of leaflets and as many boxes of toothpaste samples as we could carry. We talked to around 200 members of the public about the risk factors involved with oral cancer, and the importance of regular visits to a dentist.

The picture shows us at the end of our stall as, despite the biting cold (and the numerous passers-by who rejected our attempts to engage them in conversation), it was a great success. Thank you to everyone who volunteered on the day!
