Current projects

Geostatistical Binary Models for Extremes (GEOBEx)

  • We aim to develop a new framework based on novel statistical models and efficient Bayesian inference methods, explicitly based on extreme-value theory, for accurate estimation and prediction of binary spatio-temporal extremes.
  • Project funded by EPSRC.
  • Collaboration with Carolina Euan (Lancaster University)

Predicting for Resilience - beta phase (Predict4Resilience)

  • Continuation of P4R alpha phase where we built a new fault prediction tool to provide actionable forecasts of network faults to Distribution Network Operator control rooms, enabling more confident decision-making and reduced customer minutes lost due to faults.
  • We aim to further improve our fault forecasting tool, using broader data from both other networks and new weather sources to provide a higher resolution reanalysis. The project contemplates live trials at both Scottish Power and  Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks.
  • Project funded by the Office for Gas and Electricity Markets.
  • Collaboration with Scottish PowerSIA Partners and the Met Office
