A recently published systematic review by Dr Ewelina Rydzewska of the Scottish Learning Disabilities Observatory reports that mothers of people with intellectual disabilities experience higher rates of anxiety, depression, parenting stress, common mental disorders and emotional burden compared to mothers of typically developing people.
This review was conducted as part of Dr Deborah Kinnear’s ESRC project investigating mental health of mothers of people with intellectual disabilities.
