The University retained its top ranking for education in this year's Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide, placing forst in the UK for the subject for the second year in a row.

The latest edition of The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 was published in The Sunday Times on 18 September. It ranks 135 UK universities, overall and by subject, to provide a comprehensive overview of higher education in Britain.

In addition to retaining the top spot in education, the University of Glasgow was also named Scottish University of the Year.

The University rose two places in the rankings to 12th in the UK and second in Scotland. The 2024 results are the University’s joint best performance in the rankings, having previously been named Scottish University of the Year and placed 12th in the 2022 rankings.

Professor Sir Anton Muscatelli, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glasgow, said:

It is very pleasing the University of Glasgow has again been named Scottish University of the Year by the Times & Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024. Our ranking of 12th in the UK matches our previous record performance in the 2022 rankings, and the second occasion we have been named Scottish University of the Year in three years. This result is tribute to the consistent excellence of our University community, and the hard work and endeavour displayed despite challenging circumstances over the past few years. I would like to thank my colleagues for their continued commitment to the University."
