Name: Camilo Gómez

Home country: Colombia

"As a whisky enthusiast, I have dedicated my professional career to the whisky industry. I started my journey at Glenfiddich in Colombia, where I held various marketing roles and was responsible for promoting Glenfiddich's message throughout the country.

In 2015, I decided to take on a new challenge and pursue an MBA in Glasgow, Scotland. During my studies, I found the inspiration to become an entrepreneur. With a passion for whisky and a desire to share it with others, I founded Once Upon a Whisky, a premium whisky tour company that specialises in delivering unforgettable 5-star whisky experiences in Glasgow, Edinburgh, and distilleries throughout the Highlands and Islands."

What have you been up to since graduating from the Business School?

After my graduation, I have been in charge of managing Once Upon a Whisky, which is an award-winning whisky tour company. The company is dedicated to passing on the passion for whisky and educating visitors worldwide.

What was the most important thing you learnt while studying at Glasgow?

The most important thing I learned is that true worth lies in pursuing your passions rather than living someone else's dream.

What is your top piece of advice for current students – our future alumni?

To follow their passions when they are still young and not to be afraid to take risks.

Tell us about your fondest memory at the Business School.

So many good memories but probably the fondest one is when I was awarded as the “World’s Biggest Whisky Lover.”
