Update to ARC-XR webpages
The ARC-XR web pages have been refreshed and new pages have been added to spotlight two exciting projects: Museums in the Metaverse and FUSION.
VR project calls for participants - win a £50 gift card!
Postgraduate researcher Claudia Marcela Correa Malagon has completed a pilot for her first VR project, a collaboration between the University of Glasgow and the University of Valencia, Spain. Claudia studies the role of emotions in travel experiences, and how virtual reality impacts these emotions and the memorability of travel. In her PhD project, Claudia uses a VR app that "transports" users to some scenic locations around Scotland. Claudia's main study will take place from July 17th to July 19th in the ARC-XR.
If you have 15 minutes to spare, please stop by to help Claudia complete her PhD project, experience a new VR travel app, and get a chance to win a £50 gift card in the raffle! If you have any questions, get in touch with Claudia at: claudia-marcela.correa-malagon@glasgow.ac.uk.
Lessons learned for researchers during COVID-19
Last year the Strategic Research Initiatives Team undertook a piece of work to identify some of the lessons learned during COVID-19 travel restrictions about how to do research equitably while reducing our international travel footprint. They are now ready share their guidance on Sustainable and Equitable Research.
The team strongly encourages anyone working in international collaborations to review the guidance. If you have suggestions that others could benefit from, please send them to Mary.Ryan@glasgow.ac.uk.
QuantIC Community Conference
QuantIC hosted its Community Conference, QuantICOM in Crieff Hydro in early June. The conference brought the community together to celebrate the achievements and successes of the past 10 years of QuantIC. Research groups throughout the Hub attended the event, including several ARC residents, which featured poster sessions, career development workshops, and networking opportunities which allowed attendees to forge new research collaborations, and make new friendships throughout the evening BBQ, quiz, and social activities.
