New Head of Strategic Engagement

Marie-Claire Jones joins the University in her new role within the Transformation Team, bringing a wealth of experience in journalism, marketing, and communications, and for the last six years, has been Director of Fundraising and Communications for Who Cares? Scotland. Looking forward to the journey ahead she said "As a University of Glasgow alumna, it feels really special to have joined Team UofG more than 20 years later, and especially at such a pivotal point in the university's transformation journey. I have spent the last four weeks meeting as many people as possible and immersing myself in the range of projects that are currently underway to fundamentally enhance the experiences of our students and our staff. I am now looking forward to helping to build the profile of this important work, and to collaborating with members of the Change Network as we tell an exciting story about the transformation across the university community. I would like to thank everyone for such a warm welcome so far, and I hope to connect with many more of you in person, in the coming weeks and months."

Timetabling AY24/25 - Townhall Online Event

Invitations have been sent out to all College and School staff for an online town hall event on Thursday 15 February. The session will cover:

  • ‌Process and timelines for Academic Year 2024/2025
  • ‌Available help and support
  • ‌Q&A Panel

With preparations in place, Gary Wright, Head of Process Improvement is looking forward "we have had fantastic engagement during the process of designing and communicating the AY24/25 timetabling activity.

It's great to see everyone aligning behind the right first time approach as we move away from the minimal change approach of AY23/24. Moving forward we are looking forward to working with each programme to make sure we provide the best timetable possible for the next academic year, whilst also starting to test out some alternative approaches to timetabling in the summer."

‌‌If you have not received an invitation and would like to attend, please contact the Timetabling Project team.

Assessment and Feedback: Practice Enhancement Tool

We're thrilled to share that on March 11th, we'll be launching the Practice Enhancement Tool – an annual survey created to support our teaching staff. This survey is designed to support teaching staff by feeding back their experiences of embedding the Learning Through Assessment (LTA) pillars in their teaching.

The survey results are instrumental in helping teaching staff showcase best practices and identify areas where additional support is needed.

‌Dr Kim Davis, Co-Chair, Assessment and Feedback Practice and Policy

Teaching staff will find valuable information on our Assessment & Feedback Hub, stocked with case studies and resources offering a glimpse into teaching practices across the University.

Despite the dreary winter weather, the app team has had a positive and energising few months! In December we were proud to receive a team award as part of this year’s Rewarding Contribution round for being a great example of how multi-disciplinary teams can deliver great digital experiences.

In January we released the new Support & Wellbeing feature which takes a completely fresh approach to signposting students to the information they need. Coming up, we have some in-depth research into the use of our Timetabling features, we'll be reviewing student feedback from the recent JISC survey and improving the searching features to help you find rooms and buildings around the University more easily.
