Binding: France (Paris), 19th-century, gold-tooled black grained goatskin;  covers have a border formed from a decorative roll between double fillets with a fleuron at each corner;  gold-tooled spine; marbled endpapers;  gilt-edged leaves;  pink silk bookmark;  signed in gilt at foot of spine “Relié par Simier”.   Size:  172 x 112 mm.
Leaf size: 162 x 101 mm.
Annotations: Numerous marginal annotations and nota marks in early hands;  occasional manicules.
Decoration: Fourteen-line initial “F” on a2r supplied in blue with white tracery on a square ground of crimson with tracery in dull gold;  other initials supplied in red or blue.
Imperfections: Wanting 2A-E8.
