The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002

The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (FOISA) and the Environmental Information (Scotland) Regulations 2004 (EIRs) were introduced by the Scottish Parliament to ensure that people have the right to access recorded information held by Scottish public authorities.  The University is a Scottish public authority and is therefore subject to FOISA and EIRs.

FOISA and EIRs ensures that, subject to certain exemptions and exceptions, any person can receive recorded information that they request from a public authority.  This is a legal right.

FOISA and EIRs are promoted and enforced by The Office of the Scottish Information Commissioner (OSIC).

The University already publishes a great deal of information that can be accessed via the UofG Publication Scheme.
