Professor Jaime Toney has joined Glasgow Changing Futures as Academic Lead for Sustainable Futures.

An environmental and climate scientist, Prof Toney is Director of the Centre for Sustainable Solutions and the Principal Investigator of GALLANT: Glasgow as a Living Lab Accelerating Novel Transformation, funded as part of the Natural Environment Research Council’s (NERC) strategic programme.

Prof. Toney's recent work focuses on systems approaches for sustainable solutions, and puts co-production and partnership working at the core. She is passionate about enabling action and building capacity for change towards sustainable futures. A recent example includes the development of the Thriving Glasgow Portrait, which is a co-created, shared vision of Glasgow as a thriving city and provides a framework for keeping social and ecological priorities in consideration during decision-making processes.

Reflecting on her appointment, Jaime said: Glasgow Changing Futures provides an opportunity for us to uphold the University’s commitments as a civic institution, tackling society’s most complex challenges. As the Academic Lead for Sustainable Futures, I look forward to taking a systems approach that values and engages diverse viewpoints. I will invite colleagues, students, and partners to engage collaboratively in designing and delivering meaningful and sustainable solutions.
