Short Description
Epidemiology and the use of statistical methods are integral to understanding and undertaking contemporary public health research. This course builds on introductory concepts and methods to enhance student's learning in critically engaging with this branch of public health research, as well as equipping them with more advanced tools to undertake their own epidemiological and statistical work.

Course Aims
The aim of this course is to further enhance and develop student's understanding of epidemiology and statistics in relation to public health research.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
On successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Critically evaluate the use of epidemiology within public health research
2. Critically debate epidemiological and statistical principles and concepts within public health research
3. Critically assess the suitability of different forms of statistical analyses for different scenarios.
4. Apply a statistical package and epidemiological and statistical methods to perform data analyses and produce, interpret, and critically evaluate statistical output.
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
