Short Description
This course provides a second level Latin language course to those students who enter the University with prior experience of the language

Grade D3 or above in (Latin 2002), or at the discretion of the Head of Subject

Commentary (1500 words) - 20%

Course Aims
This course aims to:
■ develop knowledge of the Latin language and grammar
■ develop reading skills of both seen and unseen texts
■ develop a detailed understanding and appreciation of prescribed texts
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
■ understand grammatical features of the Latin language to intermediate level
■ translate and comment upon passages from the set texts after prepared reading
■ translate, without preparation, passages of literary Latin into English
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
