Short Description
This course provides students an opportunity to demonstrate their competence as practitioners in a community learning development setting. Students will plan, implement and evaluate practice and analyse it in the light of community learning & development theory.
Timetable
September to December 8 x 1 hour seminars
From January to May over 7 x 2 hour workshops
Requirements of Entry

Assessment
The summative assessment consists of:
Assignment 1: Community Map Presentation - 20%
Assignment 2: Observation of Practice - 20%
Assignment 3: Placement Essay - 60%
Each individual element of assessment must be passed as per the requirements of the CLD Standards Council Endorsement.
Course Aims
To enable students to
a) demonstrate competence in community learning & development practice against the CLD Standards
b) interrogate their practice in the light of community learning & development theory
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
a) Implement a programme of CLD activities in line with the CLD competences
b) Analyse CLD practice in the light of a range of CLD theories
c) Critically reflect on their own practice
d) Identify unmet learning needs
