Short Description
This course is designed for participants from the UK, and internationally, who are interested in finding out more about the theory underpinning child oral health improvement programmes and their development, using Childsmile as a case study.

Written report (50%) 2,000 words ; Oral presentation (50%)
Written feedback will be provided for both assessments.
Course Aims
This course will provide a critical understanding of the development and implementation of Childsmile, the national oral health improvement programme for children in Scotland, in order to explore the issues that arise in implementing a child health improvement programme in different contexts/countries.
Intended Learning Outcomes of Course
By the end of this course students will be able to:
■ Appraise the theories and principles of improving child oral health and tackling oral health inequalities via public health interventions
■ Critically evaluate the practise and policy of developing public health interventions to improve oral health and tackle oral health inequalities
Minimum Requirement for Award of Credits
Students must submit at least 75% by weight of the components (including examinations) of the course's summative assessment.
