Hunterian Fund
The Hunterian Fund
The Hunterian Museum and Art Gallery is Scotland’s oldest public museum.
Established in 1807, following the bequest of the collections of the eminent Scottish physician and obstetrician, William Hunter (1718-1783), we are the nation's leading university museum and art gallery. With over 1.5 million items, our collections are a central resource for research, teaching and knowledge exchange in the arts, humanities and sciences, attracting scholars and visitors from around the world.
The Hunterian at Kelvin Hall
The next phase of our development will see our public galleries move to nearby Kelvin Hall.
Having all our collections together, including the iconic Mackintosh House, will bring this internationally important collection fully into the public sphere for the first time. The move will lead to a significant increase in visitor numbers and programme impact.
Supported by catering, retail and a civic space, the new Hunterian at Kelvin Hall will be a major addition to Scotland's heritage and tourism offering.
